Greer Unit #11 American Legion Auxiliary held their monthly meeting on February 15, 2024 at the Post home with 13 members present.

The meeting was called to order by President Linda Youngbluth. The opening prayer was read by Juanita Stone. The pledge of Allegiance and American Legion Auxiliary Preamble was recited in unison.

The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The Treasurer’s report was given and approved. Correspondence was read from the District 8 President Karen Richlieu. It was reported that appropriate cards had been sent. Membership report was given, we have 75 paid members. The goal is 85.

Thank you’s were read from the Volunteers of America from Sioux Falls for the donation sent for the tiny homes for Veteran’s Project and from the family of James Andersh.

Linda Youngbluth made the motion to nominate Barbara Wiechmann as our member of the year. Motion carried.

The Auxiliary soup and sandwich luncheon, bake sale and raffle will be held on April 11, 2024 from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the Post home. Letter and raffle tickets will be mailed to members the beginning of March.

The Auxiliary will be serving the meal for March meeting for the Legion’s Birthday. Auxiliary members will furnish salads for the meal.

The Auxiliary will serve as a substitute group to help with Bingo for Veterans at the Human Services Center when needed.

The mid-winter conference will be held February 16-18, 2024 in Deadwood. The Spring District 8 meeting will be held April 6, 2024 in Irene.

President Linda Youngbluth went over the member year-end report. The forms were handed out to members and need to be returned to the March meeting.

Shelby Mach won the basket and donated it back to the children and youth fund.

There being no further business to come before the meeting. Juanita Stone read the prayer for peace and President Linda Youthbluth adjourned the meeting.
