Reported by David C. Isebrands, Adjutant American Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on August 18th, 2022 at the Post Home with 26 members in attendance. Commander Clayton Rados thanked the cooks for the delicious meal and then called the members to attention. Assistant Chaplain Mark Wichmann gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Commander Rados then called the meeting to order.

Minutes - Adjutant Dave Isebrands, read the minutes of our last meeting. The minutes were approved as read.

Treasurer’s Report - Treasurer Dan Gruenwald, gave the treasure’s report with report approved as read.

Americanism – No report.

Service Officer – No report. Legion Riders-The Legion Riders did the Friday Wagner Super Foods noon lunch from 11:00 until 1:00 on July 22nd with the money going towards the Midwest Honor Flight Program. They will also meet tomorrow at Midtowne to ride the route for the Labor Day Veterans’ Ride.

Old Business - The Honor Guard, ten members, went to Marty for the Leo O’Connor funeral services on August 13th. Sharon Haar made a nice donation to the Legion Post honoring Harris Haar. Chances for the gun drawing are still available and are $20 a chance or six for $100. County Veterans’ Service Officer – VSO Jerry Seiner was in Pierre for three days of training. Our local Veterans’ Clinic will remain in Wagner per Senator Rounds and not moved to Mitchell as had been expressed by a number of attendees. Currently, there is no secretary or scheduler here at the clinic. The position is open. If no current VA employees apply for the position, it will be opened up for anyone to apply. The mural for the north side of James Drug is done and hopefully will be up for the Labor Day weekend. Rick Zolnowsky will hang it with Jim Bastemeyer doing the wiring for the lights. There will be 3 Honor Flights this fall yet and one more in the spring. If you wish to be placed on the list for helping with the folding of the newsletter, please let Jerry know and you will be placed on the list when he sends out the notice when it is time to fold the newsletter for the monthly mailing.

New Business – A moment of silence was observed for Bruce Dvoracek who had been a previous member of our Post #11. The monthly cooks’ schedule has been reviewed and revised. Also, the workers’ schedule for the Labor Day stand has been reviewed and revised. Greg Mathis ordered the food for the stand. Clayton will use his Gator for hauling food. Mark Roberts will be contacted for the use of his refrigerator. Ice for the stand was again brought up with Steve Woods offering his services as he has an ice maker. Flags for the Labor Day weekend will be put up on Friday afternoon at 4:00 prior to setting up the food stand. The stand will be erected Friday afternoon again at 5:00. The District Fall meeting will be October 23rd in Vermillion.

Dave Isebrands donated the six month’s drawing winnings back to the Post to assist in retaining memberships. Bob Soukup was the monthly drawing winner but was not in attendance. Chaplain Mark Wiechmann gave the final prayer and we closed in due form.
