Greer Post #11 American Legion
Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting on December 20, 2018 at the Post Home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members.
Guests were Larry Halstrom of Sioux Falls, who now lives down on Chalkrock Road. He is now our newest member, welcome Larry. Also present was a member of our Post Larry Krcil, who lives in Florida.
The cooks for the evening were given a nice round of applause for the excellent prime rib supper, also the auxiliary for the salads and desserts they brought.
Adjutant Clayton Rados read the minutes of the November 15th meeting which were approved as read.
Committee reports were given as follows: Vice Commander Dennis Clemens distributed a financial report for the month of November to all members which was approved as given. Americanism: Don Kotab reported all four $500.00 scholarship winners were paid to the college they are going to.
Bingo: Commander Kucera reported bingo has had a good attendance the last two weeks. December 23rd will be the last bingo before Christmas. Hopefully bingo will start again in January.
Service Officer: Merle Stone reported several get well and sympathy cards have been sent out during the month.
Vice Commander Dennis Clemens reported on the bids for kitchen counter-tops in Post Home. Wagner Building Supply's bid was accepted to be done next month. Officers and auxiliary will pick out the color.
A Christmas card was received from Anna Mae Costello thanking the American Legion for all the happy times she had working bingo and the ones she worked with. Thank you Anna Mae.
Commander Kucera reported 2019 midwinter conference is in Spearfish Holiday Inn Convention Center February 8th through February 10th.
Merle Stone reported on the really nice float with American Flags they made for the Parade of Lights parade on December 14th. Merle, June and Marge Stone and Dennis and Barb Clemens did a great job and others. They plan on doing again next year.
Merle Stone reported the American Legion's 100 year centennial float will lead the Rose Bowl Parade. Everyone watch the beginning.

Lavern Rezac reported they have shingles shots at the VA. You need a follow up shot in 3-6 months.
Jay Youngbluth reported we should make up some fliers for the sweepstakesband,Clay CreekDeaf Cowboy band on February 23, 2019.
Chaplain Don Kotab then gave the final prayer and the meeting was adjourned in due form.
