Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting on May 20, 2021 at the Post Home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members.

Commander Kucera thanked the cooks for a delicious meal.

Adjutant Rados read the minutes of the April meeting with correction of the moving wall will be in Harriot June 23rd through the 27th. Minutes were approved with correction.

Committee reports were given as follows: Dan Gruenwald distributed a financial report for the month of April to members, which was approved as given. Americanism: Don Kotab reported we have one Boys Stater, Nolan Dvorak. American Legion gave four $500 scholarships, recipients were: Abby Brunsing, Mackenzie Roberts, Jaden Peters and Megan Soukup.

Service officer Merle Stone gave sick call and relief.

Legion Riders are going to Pierre this weekend, May 22nd.

Baseball: Jerry Seiner reported they will have a Junior American Legion baseball team.

They have eight players for the Senior Legion baseball team, but need three more players to have a team. Jerry reported they made $300 on the Pancake and Sausage Dinner.

Memorial Day services at the Armory is at 10 a.m. on May 31st.

Legion will take the Legion Jeep to the Fish Days Parade in Lake Andes and the Czech Days Parade in Tabor.

Vice Commander Dennis Clemens read a thank you from the VFW, who used our Post Home for their district meeting. They also donated.

Jerry Seiner reported the VFW wants to put a mural on the north side of James Drug. They have an artist from Menno tao paint it on, will need some fundraisers to do this.

A motion was made to donate to the 605 Unity JAM, which will be June 13th from 11:30 a.m. to late afternoon at Wagner Lake.

Legion will have a food stand there. We will have nachos, cheese and meat.

Dave Isebrands was elected to be our Adjutant and Don Kotab for Americanism Officer.

Greg Geiman swore in the new Legion officers.

Jerry Seiner reported they have a program to provide business training to Veterans. Sacred Mountain Retreat in Deadwood is for Veterans who suffer from PTSD.

Dave Isebrands is a new DAV van driver.

Chaplain Kotab gave the final prayer.
