Greer Post #11 American Legion had its monthly meeting September 17 at the Post Home.
Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members.
Adjutant Rados read the minutes of the August meeting, which were approved as read.
Committee reports were given as follows:
Financial Report: Commander Kucera distributed Dan Grunewald's treasure's report, which was approved as given.
Americanism: Don Kotab reported oratory information is at the school. The contest will be held January 10, 2021.
Baseball: Jerry Seiner reported the uniforms are back.
Bingo: Commander Kucera reported we will start Fall Bingo on November 1 at 1 p.m., and will play every Sunday for eight weeks, until Christmas.
Service Officer: Merle Stone gave sick call and relief.
Legion Riders had eleven riders in the Labor Day ride and probably had their last ride today.
Jerry reported electricity is high because of demand charge, will check with a lady next week.
Adjutant Rados reported 134 members have paid their 2011 year dues. We are at 78% of our goal. Thank you members!
A motion to pay Merle Stone $50 for gas and taking Legion Jeep to parades.
Commander Kucera asked for a moment of silence for Merle Denker, funeral Monday. Saturday, Sept. 19 is Floyd Redwing's funeral down by Mike Beeson's, everyone is to bring a chair.
Commander Kucera reported we will maybe start meals with our meeting in November, depending on COVID-19.
Jerry reported the flu vaccine should be out by October 1st. Anybody on Medicare can get a contract. Call Sioux Falls VA to get an appointment.
October 27 to the 29th they have a Pheasant Hunt in Pierre.
Was decided to let VFW use our Post Home for a Veteran's Day Banquet.
Jerry reported we got one flag back, but the pole is damaged from the City Park.
Fall District 8 meeting will be held September 27 at the Wakonda Post. Social at 1 p.m., meeting starts at 2 p.m.
Chaplain Kotab gave the final prayer.
