Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting on August 20, 2020 at the Post Home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members.

Adjutant Rados read the minutes of the July meeting, which were approved as read.

Committee reports: No Americanism or baseball reports.

Service Officer: Merle Stone gave sick call and relief.

Legion Riders: Bruce Specketor reported they will advertise their Labor Day Ride on WNAX and talk to the City Hall to get their ride on Channel 7 news in Wagner.

Adjutant Rados reported Legion members are renewing their memberships at an awesome rate. We appreciate the fellow Legionaries, 70% renewed in six weeks.

Commander Kucera reported that the monthly electric bill is kind of high. Jerry will check if we are being charged at a commercial rate.

Labor Day Parade line up will be in the school parking lot.

Commander Kucera will check with state on us getting a new Preamble, with the new word changes. We should get a new one on September 27th at Fall District 8 meeting in Wakonda.

Merle asked Jerry if a priest could get a casket flag from the Post Office, but would need a DD214.

Tony Krcil reported we will have a military funeral on September 12th at 10 a.m., for Legionnaire Dean Carda and a military funeral for Rewing on September 19th at 10:30 a.m.

Jerry reported he has VFW Gun Raffle tickets for sale. They are $20 a ticket and 200 tickets are being sold and three guns to be given away.

A motion to have a meal with the next monthly meeting was defeated. No meal.

Chaplain Kotab gave the final prayer.

The meeting was adjourned in due form.
