Greer Post #11 American Legion
Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting on January 16, 2020 at the Post Home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Acting Chaplain Mark Wiechmann gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members.
Commander Kucera introduced our newest Legion member, John Fuchs.
Adjutant Rados read the minutes of the December meeting, which were approved as read. Commander Kucera thanked the Sons of the American Legion for the very delicious meal they served.
Committee reports were given as follows:
Dan Gruenwald distributed a financial report for the month of December to members, which was approved as given. No Americanism report and baseball report.
Bingo Commander Kucera reported our pre-Christmas Bingo was down a little from last year. We will start our winter bingo February 9th.
Service Officer Merle Stone gave sick call and relief.
Vice Commander Dennis Clemens reported there is a Vietnam Era reunion in Watertown March 27 to 29.
Legion Day at the State Capital is Monday, February 10. All Legion members are invited. Please wear your Legion cap.
State American Legion wants a copy of all Post By-Laws and Constitution on file at the State Department. Check with Ken Cotton if he has updated our Form 990.
Midwinter Conference is February 21 to 23 at Arrowwood Resort & Conference Center at Cedar Shore in Chamberlain.
Spring District Convention will be April 4 at 1 p.m., in Vermillion.
We will pick this years Legionnaire of the Year at the February meeting.
Dennis Clemens made a request we gat a laptop or tablet for our Post.
Mark Wiechmann reported we should have a sign out sheet for the crutches, canes, walkers, wheelchairs and bed that we have in the American Legion basement for anyone who is in need of one.
A thank you from Alma Thaler was received along with a check for $150 for the military services for Leonard Thaler.
We will have a sweepstakes meeting for turning in sold tickets after this meeting.
Should check into getting hand warmers for military funerals.
Chaplain Wiechmann gave the final prayer.
The meeting was adjourned in due form.
