Greer Post #11 American Legion
Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting November 21, 2019 at the Post Home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members.
Adjutant Rados read the minutes of the October meeting, which were approved as read.
Commander Kucera thanked the cooks for a delicious meal. The Auxiliary thanked the Legion for the 100 year anniversary birthday cake.
Committee reports were given as follows: Dan Gruenwald distributed a financial report for the month of October to members which as approved as given. Americanism: Don Kotab reported there was a good turnout of Veterans at the schools Veterans Day Program, which was very well prepared. Don also reported member Charlie Thaler moved to the Good Samaritan Society.
Commander Kucera reported bingo is going pretty good. Workers are: November 24 Leo Soukup and Don Kotab, December 1 Robert Kisely and Tony Krcil, December 8 John Stone and Clayton Rados and December 15 Dennis Clemens and Leo Soukup. Commander Kucera reported the price of popcorn has really went up.
Service Officer: Merle Stone gave sick call and relief.
Dave Isebrand reported Legion Riders are done until spring. He also reported William Hoffman had his hip replaced.
Vice Commander Dennis Clemens reported the Flag Retirement Ceremony at the school on Veterans Day was very good, but could have been more Veterans there. Also on Veterans Day they would like more Veterans to go to Wagner School classrooms to talk with students about their service in the military.
Dennis Clemens reported we are supporting Greg Geiman for Sergeant at Arms at the 2020 State Convention in Huron in June. Dennis read a thank you from the Vit Krcil family. Mackenzie Roberts will be our candidate for military ball queen.
Adjutant Rados reported the Annual American Legion Sweepstakes drawing will be February 29, 2o20. Clayton also presented members with their 5-Year continuous membership stars. He also reported several Legion members and Auxiliary members went to Yankton Human Health Center to play bingo and serve a light lunch and kolaches from Tabor Auxiliary.
Dennis Clemens asked for help making an entry into Wagner Parade of Lights on December 13 at 6 p.m.
Greg Geiman reported the spring District #8 meeting will be held in Vermillion.
Chaplain Kotab gave the final prayer. The meeting was adjourned in due form.
