Greer Post #11 American Legion
Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting on October 17 at the Post Home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members.
Adjutant Rados read the minutes of the September meeting, which were approved as read. Commander Kucera thanked the cooks for a delicious meal.

Dan Gruenwald distributed a financial report for the month of September to members, which was approved as given. Americanism: Don Kotab reported Veterans High School Program is November 11 at 2:30 p.m. Jerry Seiner reported they will have a flag retirement program November 11 at 9:30 a.m. The Broadcast class is doing a program on Veterans Day events.
Legion Riders are winding down for the winter. Service Officer: Merle Stone gave sick call and relief. Leo Soukup reported the Rich Greger family brought back the special bed from the Legion. They said it worked very well and were very grateful for getting to use it.
Jerry Seiner reported commissary or PX is often to service connected veterans to go to get groceries and other things. The closest ones are in Omaha and Ellsworth. Flu shots will be given in our local VA Clinic October 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. or veterans can go to Walgreens to get free flu shots.
Eugene Dressler reported on his Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He said it was an absolutely awesome trip. His son Todd and a lot of young people made it so good. Eugene was most impressed by all the Patriotism.
Received a letter from Tom and Lars Langrehr. They pad their dues and donated some money for the flag fund. Commander Kucera reported Christmas Bingo begins November 3. Workers are Jerry Seiner and Dennis Clemens. November 10: Leo Soukup and Tony Krcil; November 17: Dennis Clemens and Melvin Horner. Calling numbers are Merle Stone, Jay Youngbluth and Robert Kucera.
Commander Kucera reported Bob’s Candy is no longer in business. Whole Sale Supply Company in Yankton, which is behind Burger King, may be our new wholesale supplier.
Wagner and Tabor Auxiliary and Legion Posts will be going to Yankton Human Service Center November 21 at 1 p.m. They will play Bingo and have kolaches and lunch with them.
VFW Veterans Day Banquet will be November 11 in the Legion Post Home. Veterans are invited to speak to local students in their classrooms. Chaplain Kotab gave the final prayer. The meeting was adjourned in due form.
