Greer Post #11 American Legion held its monthly meeting on July 18, 2019 at the Post Home. Commander Robert Kucera called the members to attention. Chaplain Donald Kotab gave the invocation, which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. All members recited the Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion.

Guests were legion scholarship winners.

Adjutant Rados read the minutes of the June meeting, which were approved as read. Commander Kucera thanked the Cooking Committee for a delicious meal.

Committee reports were given as follows Treasurer Dan Gruewald distributed a financial report for the month of June to all members, which was approved as given.

Americanism: Don Kotab reported the Legion scholarship winners were here.

Baseball: Jerry Seiner reported Junior American Legions Baseball team did very well. They go to regional tournament on July 26th.

Service Officer: Merle Stone not present.

Commander Kucera asked for prayers for Juanita Stone, who was in an accident on there way to Dante for a military Funeral.

Legion Riders: Bruce Spectator reported they are going on a ride starting at the Canadian and Mexican Borders with banner that will be taken along the ride and displayed at Posts along the way. They will be meeting at Great Bend, KS. The ride through South Dakota is August 2nd.

Greg Mathis reported he has food ordered for Labor Day stand.

Don Kotab was congratulated for being a new DAV Van driver.

Dave Isebrands donated a large print of a American Eagle Landing in a tree. Thank you Dave.

Commander Kucera: Jay and Linda Youngbluth went to Royce Loesch’s Funeral in Pierre. Royce was a National Delegate for the Legion. Commander Kucera thanked the Greer Post #11 Honor Guard for the awesome job they do at military funerals.

Commander Kucera asked for Legion Members to start making ice for Labor Day stand.

Jerry Seiner reported they are making the Labor Day workers schedule. If someone wants a different time to work in the stand let Jerry or Clayton Know right away.

Jerry Seiner reported we could have more military flags, from deceased veterans, to be flown in the City Park on memorial days.

Lavern Rezac reported on the VA telephone call. They plan on having more vans. If you live a long way from the VA Hospital you can go to your local doctor, with permission from your VA doctor. They will have more emergency rooms in the Sioux Falls VA Hospital who is adding on. They will also add on to the parking lot.

Joe Stedronsky will go on the next Midwest Honor Flight, to Washington in September.

District #8 Commander Greg Geiman presented Greer Post #11 with a one hundred year plaque. Wagner was chartered July 7th, 1919.

Greg Geiman also presented a certificate to Wagner’s Sons of the American Legion for increasing their membership.

Greg is looking for a post to have the fall district #8 meeting.

Chaplan Don Kotab gave the final prayer. The meeting was adjourned in due form.
