American Legion Greer Post #11 held its monthly meeting on December 18, 2025 with 38 members and 3 SAL members in attendance. Commander Rados thanked the cooks for the delicious prime rib dinner. Dennis Clemens was the winner for the queen drawing but drew the 2 of clubs instead. Chaplain Don Kotab gave the invocation which was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. The Preamble to the Constitution of the American Legion was recited by all members. Commander Rados then called the meeting to order.
Minutes – Adjutant Dave Isebrands read the minutes of our last meeting. Minutes were approved as read.
Treasurer’s Report – Treasurer Dan Gruenewald gave the treasurer’s report. The treasurer’s report was approved as presented.
Americanism – Americanism Officer Don Kotab gave his report. He is gathering information to send out the scholarship recipients’ scholarship money to the correct address.
Service Officer – Service Officer Merle Stone gave his report.
Baseball – Baseball Officer Jerry Seiner has spoken with both Matt Slaba and Sam Metzger who have been the coaches for baseball. There are some changes for the divisions for next year and Jerry will keep us posted. Both Matt and Sam are willing to coach again next year.

Legion Riders – No report Bingo – Paul Kucera stated that the turnout for Bingo has been very good. Volunteers for the upcoming sessions are December 21 – John Slaba and Clayton, December 28 – Clayton and Ray Soukup, January 4 –Jim Bastemeyer and Josh Woods and January 11 – Dennis Clemens and Dave Isebrands Veterans Service Officer – Veterans Service Officer Jerry Seiner stated he will be leaving for the winter tomorrow morning. He will be adding two more drivers for the DAV van and Karen Krcil will be the contact person in his absence.
Old Business –Paul Kucera and Clayton readied the Post’s float in the parade of lights on December 5th. The parade was longer with more participation and was received well. Clayton will reach out to the Lake Andes Post to see if they desire to join Post #11 as their numbers are down.
New Business – Commander Rados and Assistant Commander John Crisman spoke on Naloxone being available free of charge that we could place in our Post in case it might be needed in an emergency situation for an opioid overdose. Tickets for the 27th annual dance will be handed out tonight. The dance and drawing will be on February 28th.
The South Dakota Department of American Legion Mid-winter meeting will be in Oacoma on February 20-22 at Cedar Shores. On Saturday March 28th, the District 8 meeting will be at 10:00 AM in Vermillion.
John Havranek was the monthly drawing winner with the winnings donated back to the Post. Chaplain Don Kotab gave the final blessing and we closed in due form.
