The Avon Girls competed in the Gayville-Volin Softball tournament. The girls lost the first two games 17-4 to Gayville and 18-0 to Viborg-Hurley. The girls won their 3rd game by a score of 6-5 over Tri-Valley. Leading hitters against Tri-Valley were Jordyn Voigt with 2 hits, Kaeli Wallinga with a triple and Abby Gretschmann with 1 hit and 2 RBI's. Karlie Devries picked up the win, pitching all 5 innings giving up 5 hits, 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Gayville Volin 12 Avon Pirates 5 The Lady Pirates were defeated by Gayville-Volin by a score of 12-5. The Pirates out hit Gayville 10-4. Leading hitters for the Pirates were Courtney Sees and Abby Gretschmann with two hits apiece. Macy Voigt added two hits and 2 RBI’s. Karlie DeVries was on the hill for all six innings. Bon Homme 15 Avon Pirates 4 On Thursday, The Lady Pirates were defeated by the Bon Homme Cavaliers by the scores of 15-4. The Pirates played them close, but gave up 9 runs in the 4th inning to fall behind. Leading hitter for the Pirates were Rilyn Thury with 2 hits and Ashley Tolsma with 1 hit and 2 RBI’s. Karlie DeVries pitched 4 innings with 7 strikeouts while Macy Voigt pitched 1 inning with 1 strikeout. The Pirates play two at Wagner on Monday May 15th followed by Parent’s night at Avon on Tuesday May 16th.
