If you like music, relaxing by the lake in the evening and having some great food make plans to attend the first of three evening concerts to be held in Wagner during the final last two weeks of August and the first evening in September. The event is called “Sessions By The Lake” and is an extension of the “605 Unity JAM” that was held at the Wagner Lake this last June. The importance of unity for our community is the main theme and this message will be echoed throughout the concert series.
The first of the three evening concerts will be held on Thursday, August 24 at the shelter on the south side of Wagner Lake beginning at 6:30 p.m. and will continue until 8:30. The play ground is right next to the shelter and this will make it much easier for families with children to attend and monitor their children at play. The first of the three concert series will feature “Uncle Roy and The Boys” playing some great country and some old time rock-n-roll. A “Bean Bag Tournament” will also be held as part of the event as well. Teams should sign up in advance and the the fun for this part of the event will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the lower part of the park. Teams will provide a $5 entry fee for their two person team and be competing for bragging rites along for $50 in Wagner Bucks for the first place team. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finalists and one special drawing will be held for teams that may just come up short in the placement. Information on how and where to sign up a team will be announced next week so watch for posters and information around town. A tournament will be held during every one of the “Sessions By the Lake” events. The first event will feature Beefy’s Tacos so come ready to enjoy some great food while you watch the Bean Bag Tournament or listen to the great music.
Remember the importance and value of unity! Without unity we will never be able to work to together to help create a town to be proud of. Without learning to work together for the common good we run the risk of facing the same fate that so many other communities in rural America have faced. Show your support, get involved, be active in helping to make our community a better place for everyone.
