FREE EXERCISE OPPORTUNITY: WAGNER WALKS
Why walk? The American Heart Association recommends 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week. Walking helps you think, feel, and sleep better. It also reduces your risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and certain cancers. Exercise improves blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Your mental and emotional well-being improve, and it also reduces your risk of depression and can help prevent weight gain.
The Wagner Area Health and Wellness Consortium (WAHWC) is committed to promoting and facilitating healthy opportunities for our community. As temperatures drop and daylight disappears, accessible exercise opportunities slowly fade. WAHWC’s president, Wee Conroy, has recently started facilitating a free morning exercise opportunity at the Wagner Boys and Girls Club, Wagner Walks.
Wagner Walks allows anyone a time to walk, run, stretch or play, from 6:00 AM to 7:00 AM on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays through December 20th. WAHWC wants to reward you for trying to stay active in the bitter cold days ahead, each time you attend, you will be entered to win a Hydro Flask and other rewards. All ages are welcome, those under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian present. For questions please contact Wee Conroy at (605) 384-4818.
