A free Birth to 5-Years-Old Developmental Screening will be held for all preschool children. This includes all children who are four years of age or younger as of September 1, 2019. The screening is also for five-year-old children who are not currently enrolled in kindergarten during this 2019-2020 school year.
If your child attends the Wagner Head Start / Preschool Program, then he or she will be screened while attending school on October 1.
The developmental screening is a FREE service provided by the South Central Cooperative in conjunction with the Wagner Community School District. Screening in the Wagner Community School District will be conducted at the Wagner Preschool Center on Tuesday, October 1, 2019.
The Birth to 5-Years-Old Developmental Screening will include a speech and hearing screening by a speech and language pathologist. It will also include a screening of each child's cognitive, social, motor and language development. In addition, there will be a vision screening and physical appraisal conducted by the community health nurse.
Individuals with questions concerning the scheduled screening should contact Ethel Cournoyer, Yankton Sioux Tribe Infants and Toddlers Program (384-3641); Sara Hansen, Preschool Supervisor; Ann Freier-Metzger, Birth to 3 Special Instruction; or Tammy Weisser, Early Childhood Special Education Teacher, at the Wagner Preschool Center at 384-4354.
Any child can be screened, ages zero to five years old!
