FOUR JUNIORS SELECTED TO ATTEND BOYS STATE 2021
Makayla Kopp
American Legion says that Boys State is among the most respected and selective educational programs of government instruction for U.S. high school students. It is a participatory program in which students become part of the operation of local, county and state government. Boys State was founded in 1935 to counter the socialism-inspired Young Pioneer Camps.
This year three boys have been selected from the Avon American Legion: Eli Watchorn, Lincoln Thury, and Justin Ferwerda. Thury,” I can’t wait for the op portunity to meet new people and learn the roles of government.” Haden Cahoy will be joining them to represent the Tabor American Legion. Boys State will be held on May 31-June 5 in Aberdeen, South Dakota at Northern State University.
