Get a good Sunday dinner for 50 cents at the Eureka Hotel.

Rev. Curry will deliver the farewell address to the graduating class at the Baptist Church on Sunday evening. The graduating exercise will be on Monday at the Opera House.

Instead of Jake Pritzkau playing the organ as reported last week, it was his brother, Emanuel.

The Dolan sisters enjoyed a ride in Dr. Greenfield's new auto!

Avon will celebrate the fourth of July in sufficient funds are raised. A committee will be appointed.

1935 - 86 Years Ago

Sunday night was baccalaureate for the Senior class of 35. The service was a fine one given by Rev. Schlpf, Rev Eling, and Rev. Strong.

Monday night was Class Night. Ruth Metcalf gave the class poem, Lola Walkes, the prophecy, and Lawrence Fathke read the will. Fred Bollinger and Esther Schlipf gave the Salutatory and Valedictory talks. Donald Walkes, Kenny Hauge and Fred Bolling earned $5 bills for abstaining from alcohol or tobacco for four years.

Tuesday night was commencement with the seniors receiving their diplomas.

Thursday and Friday nights are Senior Play nights. "Sound your Horn" will assure you of plenty of laughs.

1964 - 57 Years Ago

Virgil Petrik resigned from the Avon School and will be moving to Irene.

The Avon Mets had 20 ball players this year but only 15 are allowed on a team.

The Rancho Café Bowling team is the League Champions. On the team are Ed Winckler, Spot Giedd, Neil Hornstra, Pete Fennema, Ernie Hento and Phil Pier.

The Iro Mogen family spent the weekend in Chamberlain.

1986 - 35 Years Ago

Michelle and Scott Knickman have a new baby, Matthew Scott.

Mr. and Mrs. Steve Merkwan and Betty Lou Harmacek attended the College Outdoor Track meet at Howard Wood. Kim Merkwan a USD Freshman ran the hurdles.

Ronda Van Gerpen graduated from SDSU in nursing on Saturday.
