FIRST GRADERS TOUR AREA BUSINESSES

By

The first graders appreciate First Dakota Bank, Commercial State Bank, Fort Randall Credit Union, Avera Hospital and the Wagner Early Childhood for opening their doors to the students. We hope to reach out to more businesses next year and continue to get the students involved within the community. First graders went to First Dakota Bank, Commercial State Bank and Fort Randall Credit Union. The banks welcomed us with a variety of objects and goodies to take home. Each bank walked us through different locations as they explained the reasoning and procedures for different devices. They discussed the importance of saving money and how that can positively affect them later one. First graders also went to the Wagner Avera Hospital. The hospital showed the first graders the physical therapy area, x-ray room, the ER, and exam rooms. Different specialist taught the students about procedures that take place in their areas. In the ER room students were able to video chat with the Sioux Falls hospital. The students were eager to have their questions answered and try out the different activities. The students know how to get help when needed along with what to expect when they go in to the hospital. Some first graders also went to Wagner Early Childhood to read stories to the younger children.
