FARMERS CONTINUE HARVEST
Fall has arrived and for farmers that means it is time to begin reaping the rewards of their hard work as they fire up the combines and begin to harvest their soybean and corn fields.
The area received plenty of rain for the start of the growing season this summer for the beans, but with August's high temperatures and minimum moisture, bean fields were found dry. Reports are coming in at 45-55 bushels per acre on average.
For the corn, it's a different story. This year brought ideal conditions with the July rains and farmers will be rewarded with bumper crops at the elevators. Photo by Barb Pechous
