FAMILIAR FACES FIND VICTORY LANE FRIDAY AT WAGNER

Week 12 of the Fort Randall Casino and Hotel Weekly Racing Series this past Friday night at Wagner Speedway saw all five drivers in victory lane for at least the second time this season.

As is always the case, the Roth Custom Farming IMCA Hobby Stocks hit the high banks to begin the features and it was Jordan Vosika (Gregory, SD) picking up his third win of the campaign, holding off a hard charge from Matt Goth (Huron, SD) who started 10th. Toby Ives (Verdigre, NE) picked up a strong top three finish, with points leader Tony Fetterman (Elk Point, SD) and Mike Hanson (Meckling, SD) rounding out the top five. Heat races were won by Mike Hanson and Jordan Vosika.

The Ponca Valley Seed IMCA Northern Sport Mods saw Dudley Schroeder, Jr (Armour, SD) continue his dominance. Starting from the fifth position, Schroeder, Jr picked up win number seven and opened a seven-point lead in the points battle with two races remaining. Devon McMartin (Canton, SD), making his first appearance at the track this season, took advantage of some "Friday the 13th" type luck for Josh Pfeifer (St. Paul, NE). McMartin started seventh and finished second. Pfeifer was running strong until a tire problem sent him to the work area, where he would change a tire and charge back to salvage third. Kendell McCarthy (Naper, NE) and Daniel Woodle (Moville, IA), who made his Wagner Speedway debut, would round out the top five in that order. Josh Pfeifer and Dudley Schroeder, Jr won their respective heat races.

The Payer Livestock IMCA Sport Compacts saw Taylor Brown (Yankton, SD) pick up the heat and the feature wins Friday, giving him four main events to his credit. The win keeps him within eight points of his brother Conner Brown (Yankton, SD) for the points lead with two races remaining.

Brady Wenzlaff (Yankton, SD) picked up win number five of the season in the Mark's Machinery IMCA Stock Cars, holding off a fierce challenge from Dusty Poessnecker (Atkinson, NE). Poessnecker had won his previous two trips into Wagner but would settle for second behind points leader Wenzlaff. Mark Krieger (Stuart, NE) managed third, Joey Jaton (Wagner, SD) finished fourth and Joel Namminga would round out the top five. Heat races were won by Dusty Poessnecker and Paul Wenzlaff (Yankton, SD).

Lastly, the DK Flooring and Customs IMCA Racesaver Sprint Cars spread their wings for 15 trips around the way and "Doc" made his second house call to victory lane in 2021 at Wagner. Danny Nekolite (O'Neill, NE) started in fifth and came home a winner, holding off John Otte (Ravinia, SD). Gary McCarthy (Platte, SD) garnered third, Dennis Englehaupt (Page, NE) celebrated his birthday with a fourth-place finish and Tony Drueke (Naper, NE) completed the top five. Heats were won by Tony Drueke and Dennis Englehaupt.
