DWU FOOTBALL - PRESTON NEDVED

Where are they now
By
Alyssa Mathis

Preston Nedved is in his fourth season playing football for the Dakota Wesleyan University (DWU) Tigers. Preston is the son of Lindsey Nedved and Jason Kuhlman and Ross and Linda Cimpl. His grandparents are Stan and Janet Nedved, Dan and Kelly Cimpl, and Tom and Mary Jo Kuhlman. His great-grandparents are Tom and Vicki Studelska and Agnes Nedved.

Preston is currently a senior at DWU but does have a fifth year of eligibility to continue to play for the Tigers next season if he so chooses. He is currently undecided, but it is a topic that is on his mind daily. Preston is majoring in Entrepreneurial Leadership with a minor in Coaching.

Preston plays the slot receiver for the Tigers but can play multiple positions on offense depending on the plays. He also plays on special teams as well. Nedved’s biggest reason for picking DWU to play college football and baseball is because he wanted to be able to play locally so that his friends and family would not have to travel far to come watch him play. DWU was also the only college that allowed Preston to be a dual sport athlete in both football and baseball.

Preston had been exposed to the DWU team long before he decided to play for them. His dad, Ross, is the head coach. Preston liked the idea of being able to play with other players that he already knew and had made connections with over the years. He really liked the small town feel that DWU gave him. There he was not just a number, but his professors and classmates knew his name and were able to get to know him. DWU had the small town feel of Wagner.

What Preston has enjoyed most about his college experience has been being able to play football and baseball at the next level. He wanted to get up everyday and go to class because he would see his teammates. He has met a lot of new people and made lifelong friends during his college years. Being around his teammates everyday has made his college athletic experience much more enjoyable.
