JaCee Dvorak was awarded a Dakota Builds Scholarship June 4th. JaCee is the daughter of Boyd and Jenni Dvorak and the granddaughter of Richard and Darlene Dvorak and John and Margret Johnson.
JaCee applied for the Dakota Builds Scholarship not only because of the financial assistance it provides for her to get her education, but also as an opportunity to ensure a secure future for herself. For JaCee, knowing that she will have a guaranteed job right out of college coupled with the fact of knowing that she will not have to face the financial burden of student loans is an invaluable opportunity and relief for her.
JaCee will be attending Mitchell Technical College this fall to major in the 2-year Agronomy program. An agronomist specializes in enhancing crop production and soil management through scientific research and practical use. It is a much more complicated field of study than most realize. Agronomists analyze soil composition, nutrient levels, and environmental factors in order to be able to advise farmers on the best planting techniques, crop rotations, and fertilization practices. They also conduct research to develop new crop varieties, improve pest and disease resistance, and enhance farming techniques that promote sustainability. Agronomists try to ensure agricultural production with the goal of minimizing the impact to the environment.
When asked why she chose to go into agronomy, JaCee said because of her deep-rooted connection to farming. Growing up on a farm, she knew from an early age that she wanted to stay connected to agriculture. She began her college ventures in cosmetology, but quickly realized it was not her passion. JaCee could not have been happier with her decision to apply to Mitchell Tech for the agronomy program. Being accepted felt like the perfect opportunity for her to return to agriculture.
What most interests JaCee about agronomy is that it will allow her to contribute to the farming community and fulfill her desire to be back on the farm working the land and crops that have always been a part of her life. The field of agronomy encompasses so many different opportunities and has a profound impact on agriculture and farmers. She is also interested because of the blend of science and practical application from soil management to crop production and beyond. Every day presents new challenges and opportunities to innovate and improve agricultural practices.
JaCee is sponsored by CHS and will be committed to working for them for three years after graduating from Mitchell Technical College. When asked why she chose CHS as her sponsor, JaCee said because of CHS’s extensive presence across the state, the positive reputation of their employees, and their welcoming atmosphere. She would like to thank Sherri Fuchs for pushing her to reach out to CHS and thank CHS for sponsoring her.
In ten years, JaCee sees herself thriving in a sales representative position within the agronomy field. Her career goal is to become a trusted advisor and partner to agricultural producers, leveraging her knowledge and passion for agronomy to help them achieve their goals and maximize their yields sustainably. As she continues to grow professionally, her goal is to make a meaningful impact on the agricultural community and contribute positively to the industry’s advancement and success.
JaCee is a 2023 Wagner Community School graduate. In her free time, she enjoys showing cattle, being outside, and spending time with her family and friends.
