Due to dry weather and recent fires related to harvesting this year’s crop

Here are some tips to think about:
By

1. Be sure all farm equipment has a fire extinguisher and it is full and operational. 2. Carry an extra 2-3 gallon pump up sprayer with water. 3. Carry an extra water in a 5 gallon bucket with lid. 4. Carry a heavy blanket to help extinguish a small fire. 5. Watch the wind direction. Combine your field in a direction that if a fire breaks out it would go toward the portion of field that has already been combined. 6. Check and grease bearings regularly. 7. Keep your machines free of dust and debris buildup (leaf blower works great for this)! 8. Attach a chain to the frame of the combine to drag along the ground which will help with static electricity. 9. Local fire departments are asking farmers to keep a blade on their tractors to help in case of fire.

Be careful this harvest season!
