Dale Mudder received his Honorary Referee plaque. Mary Ann Kloucek was honored for her 90th birthday with a card shower. Wayne and Faith Walters announce the birth of their daughter, Eden Amelia, born April 26th. Gas prices continue on the rise as regular gasoline topped $4.00, the first time since July of 2008.

41 students will graduate May 29th. Miss Elaine Hento was honored at a bridal shower. Jolly Roger staff had their last issue in the Clarion for the school year. Dave Lorenz wrote an editorial about the school year. SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Betty Buchholz likes to draw and paint. Dennis Frank's favorite sport is football. Bill Van Gerpen's favorite subject is government.

Baccalaureate services were held Sunday evening. A class of 21 will graduate on May 21st. To Mary Pier goes the distinction of Valedictorian having an average of 96.5 and to Shyne Berry the honor of Salutatorian with a 95.6 average. Mrs. R.M. Jenison and son Bobby went to visit relatives in Alexandria. Marjorie Kiehlbauch was chosen Queen of the Track and Field carnival at Yankton College.

A new ice cream at Hagarty's is Nougat Ice Cream. Roy Vilhauer shot a wolf Friday. The Reading Club held a banquet at the school and adjourned until next fall. The Avon Commercial Club now has 30 members and is planning a big July 4th celebration. The young people gathered at Hebner's Sunday evening. Kissing games were again played. Steckler's Auto Company has a 40 hp Michigan for $1,585. It is new from the factory.
