Avon graduating class had 21 graduates with Alyson Roth was named Valedictorian and Emily Mudder was named Salutatorian. A cold and wet spring finally turned hot and neighbors are able to hit the fields. Services were held for Steve Dykstra, 57, of Avon. Services were held for Clayton Kotab, 1, of Dante. The Knights of Columbus awarded the Avon School a check for $300 to go towards the Special Education Fund.

Paul Tjeerdsma, Avon senior, is one of the finalists for Mr. Basketball. The banquet will be held in Huron. A double tragedy struck Thursday morning as two Avon men, Roger Mudder and Troy Splitt, died in a cave in on the west end of Avon. Services for Roger Mudder, 48, were held at the First Baptist Church. He leaves behind his wife and two sons, Mark and Mike, his mother, three brothers and three sisters. Services for Troy Splitt, age 26, were held at the Zion Lutheran Church.

Band medals were given to one senior boy and girl, namely Lawrence Weidenbach and Lorene Schmidt. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Luke moved to White Lake where he will conduct a blacksmith shop.

The 23 piece German Band gave a fine performance on the street Saturday. A large number attended the German Baptist baptism at Egger's' Lake Sunday. The Avon School is in need of a high school building so the students can stay in Avon for Grades 11 and 12. Special offer at R.K. Fox - a $40 music machine and 8 records for only $39.65.
