10 Years Ago - 2016 After seven years, the Lady Pirates are returning to the State Tournament. Millions of geese have been heading north. Word has been said that many goose hunters flooded the area for the birds migrating, but the long flight brought them in with just feathers and bones. Avon Lady Pirates are Region 6B Champions and are headed to the State Tourney. 35 Years Ago - 1991 Jay Mudder resigned as City Street Commissioner. Brad Cameron and Jeff Hento were named All-Conference BB and Ross Romkema was Hon. Mention. Mr. and Mrs. Thorwald Raysby celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. Thirty-three youngsters took place in the 4-H Shooting Sports Program.
