Temperatures took a drop to just above zero over the weekend. THE JOLLY ROGER—Ali Sees was chosen as the Junior High Student of the Month for December while Bethany Wynia was chosen for the High School Student of the Month. SENIOR SPOTLIGHT—Chole Ramona Van Gerpen - Likes reading and watching Netflix in her spare time. Her proudest moment of her life, thus far, was being elected student body president and her role models are her older sisters. Lea Marie Wormsbecher - Her favorite subject is Physiology/Anatomy. Her favorite high school activities are playing volleyball, going to drama practice, participating in quiz bowls, and attending football and basketball games. Her role models are her parents.

All city employees will receive a 4 percent raise. Curt Van Asperen was denied a liquor license as the council claimed liquor and a teen center don’t mix. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Wiebenga have a new baby girl on Dec. 20th. JOLLY ROGER—There were many New Year’s Resolutions— 5th grade—Joel Namminga - cut down on food; Bret Muller - get more money so I can eat more candy; Mikey Pelton - stop teasing my brother and sister; Scott Hento - read more books. High school—Jerry Talsma - stop being late for school;Jason Alberts - not to be fooled by girls so much; Randy Namminga - quit ODing on cinnamon Breath spray.

Tom O’Donnell sold the Corner Bar to Ken and Lavonne Yule. The Yules have four children. 1970 licence plates are now on sale. They have blue letters on white plates. Come and hear God’s Volunteers at the Danzig Baptist Church Jan. 18-25. F. Weidenbach Specials -- Canned Corn, peas, peaches are 4 cans for $1; Jiffy Cake mixes are 10 cents; Lettuce for 19 cents each.

Rev. and Mrs. Pinnt took their son, Walter, to college in Kansas where he is attending the Lutheran Seminary. NOVA LITE— The Home Economics Class is studying cream soups and desserts. The Junior Class Play is starting rehearsals. The boys basketball team won 2 games and the girls won one.

Willie Nieuvenhuis returned from a three weeks visit to Corscia. Mr. and Mrs. Christ Reister took their son, Henry, to Sioux City. Adolph Heil lost a horse due to a broken neck.
