2015
The Avon Camber of Commerce “Parade of Lights” was held on Saturday night and the “Caribbean & Supporting KPOD & and 155th” was named the Grand Winner. They also won the “Most Lights” category, which claimed to have over 30,000 lights on the float. Schultz Ready Mix and Missouri River Cabins won the “Most Creative” and Evergreen & Friends won “Most Original”.
The second big snow storm of the year happened on Monday. School was let out at 12:30 on Monday and called off for Tuesday.
The South Dakota Public Utilities Commission approves with permission a permit for the Dakota Access Pipeline project.
THE JOLLY ROGER—Senior Spotlight—Faith Knodel - Her favorite high school activities are volleyball, drama, and choir. Her proudest moment thus far was when she was chosen to go to All-State Chorus. Her role model is her mother.
Chase Spencer - His favorite subject is shop class. Chase likes to spend time with friends in his spare time.

The school enrollment by classes is: Seniors-11, Juniors-18, Sophomores-18, Freshman-22. Making the high school a total of 69. 8th Gr. has 25, 7th - 18, 6th - 27, 5th - 20, 4th - 15, 3rd - 14, 2nd - 19, 1st - 21, and Kindergarten - 19. Superintendent is John Fathke and the Principal is Ty Becker.
Clayton Fillaus, Avon Postmaster for 30 years, will be honored with an Open House for his retirement on Nov. 30th
Lydia Fathke was honored on her 96th birthday. The Just a Club met at the Don Brown home. Mop head dolls were made.

The basketball team lost their home opener 39-40 to Andes Central.
Mark Kocmick was named to the All State Football Team. Jackie Christians was honored on her birthday Sunday. Many Christmas Specials at Schuh’s. Trees, decorations, clothing, and appliances.

The Leslie Thesenga family were in a car accident near Tripp due to snowing conditions. No one was hurt but Les had to buy a new car to continue the way to Minneapolis.

The SD Governor proclaims Nov. 30th Thanksgiving Day
W.W. Van Gerpen and Miss Jennie Jensen were married on Thursday.
Three carloads of brick have arrived for the new Presbyterian Church.
