Steve Merkwan, who operated a business in Avon longer than any other person, died this week.

Mrs. Cheryl Jackson was hired as instrumental teacher. The Keith Boese family of Sioux Falls were guests at the Nelson Lagendyk and Margaret Ann Boese homes.

Jake Kurtz has leased the Skelly Station and bulk service to Lee Haenfler effective August 1st.

Avon Juniors lost District play 11-3 to Scotland. Eric Haenfler and Sattler did the pitching.

Del Rupert, formerly a carpenter in Avon, was struck by lightning and killed while working in North Dakota.
