The Class of 1940 had a reunion on June 30th at the Springield Sandbar Marinaand July 1stat the Senior Center Avon. Fifteen class members attended.
Mr. and Mrs. Dale Van Gerpen were at Nashville, TN, this week.
Cataract surgery was performed at St. Michaels Hospital for the first time on June 15th by Yankton's Dr. Willcockson and Dr. Sprick.
Mr. and Mrs. LaVelle Meiers were honored on their 50th Wedding Anniversary on June 10th with a family dinner party.

A fire caused some damage at Northern Gas Co. The car of Bess Burns was saved. No fire go the Bowling Alley.
The Mets lost 6-5 to Yankton Jackrabbits on Thursday but won 6-5 over Tabor on Sunday. Popma had a home run over the right field fence.
Funeral services were held for William Holleman, age 71, at the First Presbyterian Church.
The Larry Kozel's had cake and homemade ice cream for Steve's 6th birthday.
Kristi and Pam Mattis from Sleepy Eye, MN, spent the week with the Martin Van Gerpens.

A big 4th of July Celebration was held at the Baseball Park. Free ball games and everything. Picnic lunch, bring your own lunch and cup. Free lemonade and coffee.Three ball games - Merchants against Tripp, Merchants against Lake Andes, Juniors against Andes. Sports of all kinds- foot races, horse shoe, band concert, free movies at the theater.
Attorney John Engel will move into his new law office in the north half of Goehrings.

Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Berndt are the parents of a baby boy born June 30th.
Most of the Avon folk spent the 4th of July in Tyndall. The baseball game was one of the most interesting ever witnessed. Avon lost 5-4.
