At the South Dakota State Fair this year will be Bob Hope, John Denver and Tom Jones August 28 to Labor Day Avon Little League: First round the Red Sox lost 11-5 to Scotland. Brad Chaney and Chris Cameron pitched. Brett Muller had 2 hits.

The Harpoons lost 15-5. Casey Einrem and Travis Rauch pitched. J. Thompson had a double.

The Mets finished their regular season with a 9-5 record that put them in 2nd place in the South Central League.

Softball all star game is on for Monday night. They will play Parkston.

Janet Christjans was honored on her 9th birthday with a supper for five girls.

Connie Fryda has enrolled in Stewart's School in Sioux City.

Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hornstra of Amarilla, Texas were visitors in Avon this week.

Jack and Gale Coleman rode in the Clearfield Rodeo on Saturday.

Mrs. Lavern Hofer and family of Beresford were guests in the home of Mrs. Leonard Harmacek.

The Avon Juniors won the Junior Legion Country Baseball Tourney. Avon defeated Tabor 15-8. Wepking and Reaney did the mound work. Avon was defeated by Tyndall but Tyndall had to forfeit as they played an ineligible player. They then defeated Tabor for the Championship.
