The Lady Pirates were headed to the District tournament and were seeded number one. The last and largest element, the main transformer, arrived at the Wind Farm which meant that power would be producing in a short period of time. Parents night was held for the 2015 boys’ and girls’ basketball teams with seniors being honored. Seniors included Amanda Reiff, Randy Hento, Logan Mudder, Cody Namminga, Devin Tolsma, Cole Fillaus, Zach Wynia, Kole Beeson and Trey Doom. Nicole Jurrens a DSU student was selected to take part in being a professional photographer for a day by photographing the Monster X tour at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

The Avon Town Team had a 16-0 record for the season. They beat Scotland 111-88 and Parkston 107 – 91. Mike Mudder had 41 points against Scotland and 49 against Parkston. Temps went from 65 degrees on Monday to the low teens on Tuesday with two inches of snow. Lori Hanson and children of Madison were guests in the Kenny Crouse home. A Valentine Buffet was being held on Sunday to treat your sweetheart. Stuffed turkey rolls, ham, beef and all the trimmings for $7.90 for two people.

The teachers were asking for a starting salary of $6,000 for the following year. 17-year-old Richard Gorman and 16-year-old Jerald Broz of Tyndall were killed in a car-truck collision on Highway 50. Five other boys were injured. Mr. and Mrs. Evert Knoll celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Modern Cleaners from Mitchell picked up clothing at Cliff’s Feed Store on Wednesday and Saturday. Robbie’s Corner Store Specials were: 10 cans of tomato soup for $1; 2 pounds of bananas for 25 cents; and a large head of lettuce for 8 cents.

The Avon Debate Squad won third place in the Wagner tournament out of 22 teams. Avon debaters were Duane Reaney, Reid Griffith, Roland Walkes and Burnell Peterson. Mike Kelly and Allan Marek were members of the BHTC male quartet and won 2nd prize at a competition in Spearfish. Little Marcene Schultz was sick with a fever. Cecil McLane installed a locker system in his meat market.
110 Years Ago 1915
Ethel Steele and children left for their new home in Colorado. The First Presbyterian Ladies Aid met at the Ed Roll home. The Leap Year dance was well attended. Music was furnished by the Johnson Orchestra from Beresford.
