CULTURE AND MUSIC COME TOGETHER AT UNITY JAM

By

If you would like to learn something new about a culture that is different than your own or you want to enjoy some great music while spending time at a lake setting, then make plans to attend the 605 Unity Jam that will be held in Wagner on Sunday, June 13. The event is being held at the Wagner Lake so fresh air and variety can be a part of your day.

This special event is being hosted by the East River Horizons Team of Wagner. The event begins at 11:30 with a focus on honoring our veterans during a special recognition time during the start of this event. All veterans attending will be asked to stop and list their name and branch of service so they can be properly introduced during the start of of the days activities. The purpose of the 605 Unity Jam is to help increase culture awareness for all in attendance, along with increasing the understanding, acceptance and appreciation for all of the cultures in our area. The program is intended to help build positive relationships within our community and between the communities that surround Wagner.

The event is being held at the Wagner Lake as it is an outstanding location and provides the opportunity for all to safely and socially distance ourselves as well. Residents from all area communities are being encouraged to come together and share in a day of learning and great music. The event will feature a corn hole tournament, great food, cultural presentations, crafts, cultural demonstrations, a chance to honor our veterans, carnival games, inflatables for the youth and a fishing contest along with a wide variety of dance and music entertainment.

The event has free admission to all who attend. Due to the number of people from the area that are expected to attend it will not be possible to drive and park within the Wagner Lake Park as in the past. All parking will be done outside of the park area across the street from the park. To help with those who find a walk from a parking lot difficult to accomplish, a shuttle bus will make the rounds throughout the day and will pick up people and bring them to the park entrance for just a single dollar each way, just as you would find at the state fair. Everyone attending this event should bring a lawn chair so they can sit anywhere they choose as they enjoy the music and many activities in the park. Everyone attending should be certain to stop at the park entrance for an information folder about the days program activities and their location in the park.
