Anna DeHaan and Lexi Schoenfelder were the two medalists for the Andes Central/ Dakota Christian Cross Country Team at the Platte Invitational Meet on Saturday, September 24. Anna finished in 8th Place (22:40) while Lexi ended up in 15th (23:23), Eilie DeHaan just missed a medal by 9 seconds finishing in 23rd (24:32). It was a tough day for the Thunder Girls Team who narrowly finished last in the team scoring with 40 points behind Centerville 32, Freeman Academy/Marion 32, Platte-Geddes 34, Burke 34, Gregory 37, and Hanson 38.
Tony Hansum came in 28th in the Boys Varsity 5K with a time of 21:36. Individual winners in the Meet were Tavin Schroeder from Freeman Academy/Marion (17:42) and Jada Koerner (20:57).
Coach Larry Lucas commented about the Meet, “Just a place up or two for the girls would have made a big difference in their team score. That was disappointing, but we need to look ahead to see where we want to go. I still feel good about all the Thunder runners qualifying for the State Meet, but we have to be more focused in our races to run up to our abilities. We did not do that on Saturday.”
Thursday, September 29 is the Great Plains Conference Meet at the Burke Golf Course, which will be the site of the Region 3B Meet on October 12. The last regular season meet for the Thunder runners will be in Parkston on October 6.
