To kick off this year's homecoming, AHS started the week with coronation. After the coronation was also the “burning of the A.” “The burning of the A” has been a tradition that started in the 90s at AHS. This year’s queen candidates were Maesa Kuhlman, Mylie Bares, Ella Small, Kaeli Wallinga, and Macy Voigt. The king candidates were Aziah Meyer, Jaydon Dreisen, John Fathke, Devin Rucktaeschel, and Landon Mudder. This year's homecoming king and queen, as voted by the students of AHS, were Macy Voigt and Aziah Meyer. In addition to the naming of this year’s royalty, there was a musical selection performed by the Avon High School Choir, under the direction of Autumn Schultz. They performed Champion by Carrie Underwood and Ludacris; the soloists were Erica Cahoy, Sophia Paulsen, Kinley Doom, and Ashley Tolsma. Finally, there was an introduction to this year’s fall sports teams to wrap up the coronation before the “burning of the A.”
