CONTROLLED BURN OFFERS REAL-LIFE TRAINING FOR AREA FIREFIGHTERS

On Sunday, December 21, the Avon Fire Department conducted a controlled burn at the former North View Motel, owned by Kevin Eben and Don Kocmich. The department was assisted by the Dante and Wagner Fire Departments during the operation. The burn provided valuable hands-on training, allowing firefighters to experience real-life fire behavior while focusing on coordination and safety procedures.

Poplar Street was closed for much of the day while the burn took place. The Avon Fire Department thanks area residents for their cooperation in avoiding the area, which helped ensure the safety of both firefighters and the public throughout the event. A special thank you is extended to all departments involved for showing up, working together, and dedicating their time to train while also helping a neighboring community carry out such a large controlled burn.
