COMMERCIAL STATE BANK PROVIDES FUNDING FOR SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

There is $180,000 in scholarship money awarded to South Dakota high school graduates from the South Dakota Bankers Foundation and sponsoring banks.

In a continuing effort to retain our best and brightest students, the Commercial State Bank of Wagner and the South Dakota Bankers Foundation have announced the 19th year of the high school scholarship program. Participating South Dakota Banks have agreed to match Foundation funds to provide scholarships to graduating high school seniors in their local communities.

The recipients will all attend post-secondary South Dakota institutions of higher learning, and this year the Commercial State Bank is pleased to be able to give five $1,000 scholarships and two $500 scholarships.

The five recipients of a $1,000 Scholarships sponsored by the Commercial State Bank of Wagner and the South Dakota Bankers Foundation are:

Faith Tyler of Wagner. Faith plans to attend Dakota Wesleyan University, Mitchell to major in Athletic Training. Faith is the daughter of John and Amy Tyler.

Cameron Smejkal of Wagner. Cameron plans to attend South Dakota School of Mines & Technology, Rapid City to major in Chemical Engineering. Cameron is the son of Shawn and Donna Smejkal.

Madison Mora of Wagner. Madison plans to attend the University of South Dakota, Vermillion to major in Nursing. Madison is the daughter of Adam Mora.

Britney Krcil of Wagner. Britney plans to attend South Dakota State University, Brookings to major in Nursing. Britney is the daughter of Steve and Karen Krcil.

Clifford Johnson of Lake Andes. Cliff plans to attend University of South Dakota, Vermillion to major in Sports Medicine/Physical Therapy. Cliff is the son of Cliff and Susan Johnson.

The two recipients of a $500 Scholarships sponsored by the Commercial State Bank of Wagner and the South Dakota Bankers Foundation are:

Kelby Kafka of Wagner. Kelby plans to attend Southeast Technical Institute at Sioux Falls to major in Construction Management. Kelby is the son of Jay and Kim Kafka.

Anna Ronspies of Armour. Anna plans to attend Mitchell Technical InstituteatMitchell to major in Business Management and Administration. Anna is the daughter of Linda Ronspies.

Established in 1982, the South Dakota Bankers Foundation was endowed by the South Dakota Bankers Association to provide scholarships, and special educational programs and awards to the secondary and post-secondary levels. In 2000, the industry tookactiontorefocusitsmission to provide an opportunity for even more visible consumer programming, including the expansion of the high school scholarship program.
