COLOSSAL WINTER STORM HITS THE AREA
Approximately 8-16 inches of snow were reported in the Lake Andes area following a spring snow storm that came through the area last week. It was a storm full of everything from rain, lightning, thunder and snow which left more unneeded moisture to those already fighting wet basements, flooding, closed roads and left farmers and ranchers with cattle yards and fields full of standing water once again. As the temps rose Monday to the high 50's the water is beginning to run so please take caution and do not drive around roads that are baricaded for your protection as the county gravel roads remain very soft. Inspector Boone of Motor Carrier Services (SDHP) issued the following Public Safety Announcement:
PLEASE OBSERVE AND OBEY WEIGHT LIMITS
This is Inspector Boone of the South Dakota Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Services reminding the trucking community to observe and obey the legal weight limits of our great
state during the spring county road restrictions. An overweight vehicle causes road damage and increases the costs of maintaining and repairing South Dakota’s state, county,
and township roads. Protect the public’s investment in our highways. Obey the legal weight regulations. Thank you!
