Mr. Culver has been with Avon for the last 24 years, all of which, he has been coaching football. His life outside of schoolisspentvisitinghisgrand kids and also playing golf. His other favorite things are taking his Harley out and lifting weights. One of his many hidden talents is that he can name most of the 70’s and80’ssongsincludingtheartists and titles. In fact, He knows all of the lyrics to Hotel California- By the Eagles.
One of the many things his students would be surprised to learn about him, is that he is one of 10 siblings. He and his wife have one daughter, Christena Voigt and five grandchildren. For Mr. Culver, a good day at school is when he gets a lot of stuff done and has a chance to visit with a student or teacher, and when nobody gets mad at him. An accomplishment that fills him with pride is that we started theschoolyearfullystaffed. When asked what current trend that is baffling him, he answered “How on either side of politics people argue so much, and instead of just disagreeing, theyhateeachother”. One of the things he enjoys most about his job, is making connections with his students by being honest with them. He hopes the students know he has their best interest at heart, and cares about them. The wisdom he would pass on to his students is be willing to work hard and do their best, because it will pay off in the long run; and to always make sure to thank the people that helped you. If he were to choose a favorite decade, he stated, “I would like to stay in the decade I was born in, which was the 60’s and 70’s”.
