SESD All Conference Players: Jhett Breen, Braxton Knudson, Bain Kuhlman, Parker, Petry and Gannon Knebel.
Bain Kuhlman was voted as an all conference linebacker.
Kuhlman was the leader of the Red Raider defense this year that was very productive. Individually Kuhlman accounted for 46 tackles/ 4 tackles for loss/ 3 sacks/ 1 interception/ 3 pass break ups. Bain’s play on the field was great but his warrior mentality and leadership abilities are also hard to come by. This kid never wanted to leave the field and pushed through injuries to stay on the field. The defense had some very memorable moments this year. The group was very hard to score on inside the red zone. They had a very bend don’t break mentality. We had two goal line stands this year from the 1 yard line that are going to be hard to forget. Bain a senior closes the book on an outstanding Red Raider career who is a multiple year starter and contributor.
Red Raiders also had an all conference defensive end in junior Parker Petry. Petry who was also nominated as an all state DE had a monster season on the edge of the line.
He accounted for 32 tackles/ 16 tackles for loss/ and 5 sacks.
Extreme production from his side of the line. Parker was able to shutdown his side of the field consistently. If he wasn’t making the play himself he was taking on pullers and lead blockers to clean the field up for his backers to make tackles behind him. Parker is very deserving of this honor and worked his tail off to get into this position. Continue looking for Parker next season as he is just a junior this year. Very exciting things to come from him.
Rounding out the list of all conference players is your sophomore QB Gannon Knebel. Knebel is a force and a name people around 11B football should get used to hearing.
In his Sophomore season he rushed for nearly 1000 yards with 12 touchdowns. Rushing for 8 yards per carry. He also threw the ball for 642 yards and 8 touchdowns. Knebel also contributed a punt return for a TD. Being only a sophomore Knebel’s future is extremely bright. The signal caller is continuing to learn and get better. We truly think the best is yet to come from Gannon.
Academic All State award winners: Jhett Breen, Karstyn Lhotak, Jace Kuhlman, Riley Roberts and Dan Soukup.
This honor is given to players that completed at least three years of football and hold at least a 3.5 GPA.
Among this group you see Dan Soukup, Jace Kuhlman, Riley Roberts and Karstyn Lhotak. These boys didn’t make the vote for an all conference or an all state award, however they deserve all the recognition in the world for their contributions to this program. These four end their Red Raider careers as major contributors in multitudes of ways. Not only physically on the field but also mentally and emotionally as leaders. We truly couldn’t ask for a better group of senior leaders and they will be missed more than they know! These guys were warriors on the field and did everything coaches asked them to do. It’s hard to put into words the impact that they had. We don’t have the season we had without these four young men!
