Great things are happening here at Andes Central Schools. All students helped celebrate National School Choice Week by doing various activities, such as filling out “Why I Love My School” cards, videoing themselves talking about why they love Andes Central, and posing for pictures with backdrops. National School Counseling Week was also this month, and students had the opportunity to write thank you cards to both Mrs. Wilbur and Ms. Garcia. We lean on our counselors for more than we tend to realize. We are lucky to have them both here at Andes Central. We also would like to thank our Andes Central School Board, since School Board Appreciation Week took place this month. They do a great job at keeping our school running smoothly behind the scenes. Elementary students have been busy travelling to the nursing home and reading to the residents. This is so beneficial for both the kids and the elders. They also took part in the Andes Central and Regional Spelling Bees.
Both middle and high school band and choir students have been working tremendously hard to prepare for their spring concert, which is on March 17th.
Enhancement Days continue to be a great asset for all students. Many students are understanding the importance of using these extra days to keep up with their school work and grades. The boys’ basketball team has been a great tool during these days as well, coming in even when they don’t have missing work to help younger students who do.
Lastly, we celebrated National Future Farmers of America Week the last week of February, with various dress-up days, activities for kids, and a teacher appreciation breakfast. It was a huge success!
