As the year comes to a close, we seniors are experiencing our final “lasts.” On May 5 at 6:30 p.m., we will attend our last ever Awards Banquet as an AHS student. On May 6-7 most of the senior track athletes will be in Sioux Falls for track meets at O’Gorman and the Howard Wood Relays.

Once May 8 rolls around, we will attend our Baccalaureate ceremony at 7:30 p.m. in the Avon gym. Tuesday, May 10 and Friday, May 13 will be the last track meets while we are all in school, and Wednesday, May 11 the senior class helps host the little kids Track and Field Day. Our last day as students of Avon High School will be on May 12.

As a class we practice for graduation, take pictures in our cap and gowns, and have one last class meal together. Graduation will be held on May 15 in the Avon gymnasium at 2 p.m.

What started as a countdown of years, transitioned into months, dwindled into weeks and trickled down to minutes. One last time having our names called across the loudspeakers of the gym. One last walk across the stage. One last picture of a handshake, a hug, a tear. One last checkmark on our road to adulthood…as an Avon alumnus. Congratulations Class of 2022!
