CIMPL AND STIMPSON REPRESENT WAGNER AT STATE GOLF TOURNAMENT
On June 3rd and 4th at the Lee Park Golf Course in Aberdeen, the Wagner girls golf team competed at the 2019 State 'A' girls golf tournament. The weather held up both days, and the low scoring was indicative of the talent there and the nice weather. Caitlyn Stimpson shot a 42 and a 45 for a day one total of 87, which put her in 11th place after day one. Emilea Cimpl shot a 50 and a 44 for a day one total of 94, which had her sitting around 26th place after day one. On day 2 Caitlyn came out on fire shooting a personal best 39 on the front nine. She shot a 45 on the back nine for a total of 84. Her tournament total of 171 was enough for a 9th place finish and her highest finish at a state tournament yet. Emilea shot a 47 and a 50 for a total of 97 and a tournament total of 191. This put her in a tie for 32nd just shy of placing. Emilea battled injuries all golf season and really played well at state despite a bum ankle. Caitlyn finished the year with two 1st place finishes in a a short golf season hindered by weather. They both will be back next year for their senior year to make a run at a state championship.
