CHRISTMAS CHEER COMES TO PARKVIEW

By
Dana Sanderson

Christmas cheer is alive and well in Wagner! One place you can see this taking place is at the Parkview Villa apartments lunch room area. A special tree was erected and decorated at the lunch room for the Meals on Wheels Program last week by a Girls Scout Troop from the Wagner area. The scouting troop and their leaders brought a Christmas tree to the lunch room and used the evening to hold their scout meeting and to decorate the tree as a scout project. Members broke into work teams and chose what decorations they were going to place on the tree. They sorted materials, discussed ideas, made decisions and worked together on a project that benefits the many people who come to the Meals on Wheels lunch program. Residents from the apartment were also invited to come and watch the scout troop in action and also enjoy some great Christmas treats, along with hot cider and hot chocolate.

The decorating of the tree by the Girl Scouts has become an annual affair and much to the enjoyment of the residents. The community members who come to the Parkview Villa lunch room during the week also get to enjoy the decorated Christmas tree as well as enjoy a great meal from the Meals on Wheels Program. Following the tree decorating, the scouts followed this part of the evening up with playing some party games and also sang a few Christmas carols to those in attendance. The residents at the apartments look forward to this even each year and really enjoy seeing the young scouts enjoy themselves as well. “This was a really well behaved group of young girls and their leaders and parents should be very proud of them for how they conduct themselves and for what they have done for those who come to the apartments for lunch!”, commented several of the residents in attendance.

The Girl Scout members are: Eva Kjeldgaard, Taelyn Knebel, Rakel Foster, Taya Stone, Kenley Wright, Addison Fischer, Sienna Kuhlman, Ezmie Gunhammer, Katelyn Caldwell, Kylin Insko, Hanna Holzbauer and Kianna Shields. The scout leaders are: Kendra Kjeldgaard, Leah Insko and Jr. Leader is Kya Kjeldgaard.

Living in the apartments has proven to be an enjoyable experience for many as it offers residents a chance to be with others and to be a part of events such as this. This is especially so during the winter months when getting out to mix with others gets more difficult. If you have ever wondered what apartment living might be like and you are at least 62 years of age or disabled, consider giving Dana Sanderson a call and look into what is involved with apartment living. It might be just what your life is ready for!
