CHOIR TAKES TRIP TO MOVIES

On October 3, the Avon High School choir visited Luxury 5 movie theater in Mitchell to watch Dear Evan Hansen, a musical turned movie. "I wanted to take my choir kids to Mitchell to see this movie because they've been working hard to fundraise during their time in the department, and I really enjoy the soundtrack,” said choir director Autumn Schultz.

Dear Evan Hansen “is a pretty moving, deep message about lonely times that teenagers may go through,” said Schultz. “It discusses tough topics and hard conversations about anxiety, depression, and suicide awareness. Throughout the movie it follows Evan Hansen and his eagerness to belong and be understood. Based on how still and silent the kids were after the movie was over, I think the message really resonated with them!"

Three years ago the choir department performed songs from this musical. Senior Makayla Kopp was in choir at that time. “I loved the movie! It was very interesting seeing the songs in movie form opposed to the musical. It has a great message that pertains to most teenagers today and I would recommend it to everyone!” Kopp said.
