CHILDREN’S FISHING CONTEST TO BE PART OF 605 UNITY JAM

By

A youth fishing contest will be one of the activities at the 605 Unity Jam that is coming to Wagner Lake Sunday, June 13. Children ages 5 through 16 are encouraged to come to the lake and try their hand at catching a fish during the contest time period. This activity will not only be fun, but will also help local youth make a few new friends along the way. Parents and guardians are encouraged to come and help their child learn about the fun of fishing or at least cheer them on as they make a good attempt at catching a fish.

The registration for the fishing contest will be held Sunday, June 13 at the Fish Contest Registration Table from 11:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon, near the stone building on the north side of Wagner Lake. The kids fishing contest is free for every youth contestant. The purpose of the contest is to help show that youth can have a great time just enjoying the fun of fishing. This event can be a great gateway for a child to enter the sport of fishing. If your child has a fishing pole you are urged to encourage them to come and be a part of the fishing contest. If a child wants to be a part of the contest, but does not have a fishing pole please be aware that there will be several available to borrow so they can participate. Bait will also be made available for contestants who register during the registration time period along with some basic fishing assistance from some of the volunteers who will also be there to help any child who wants or needs help. A variety of fishing related prizes will be awarded at the end of the activity through the form of special drawings for youth who were able to catch a fish during the contest. Additional information will be made available about the contest as the event date draws near. Area youth should begin making plans to be a part of this fun activity at the 605 Unity Jam event.
