Every February the Avon Cheerleaders go around selling “Crush Pops” for a dollar as a fundraiser for Valentine’s Day. The cheerleaders hand out little sheets of paper with cute Valentine sayings on which students can write their name and to whom they would like to give a pop.

This year the cheerleaders sold a SKY ROCKET total of 650 cans. This is the best the cheerleaders have ever done for this fundraiser. Instead of getting to choose one flavor of pop; people were able to choose from a variety of pops: Orange Fanta, Mt. Dew, Dr. Pepper, 7up, Root Beer and Orange Crush. Keely Bares, Avon senior cheerleader, said, “Having a variety of pops might have influenced more students to buy ‘Crush pops.’

Cheerleaders will use the profits to purchase cheer related items or attend cheer camps as needed or available in the future.
