CHARLES MIX ELECTRIC GROUNDBREAKING HELD

CHARLES MIX ELECTRIC GROUNDBREAKING HELD

The original headquarters for Charles Mix Electric was built in 1953 and has been added onto several times. The new facilities, at a cost of $4.8 million, will include an 18,000 sq. ft precast concrete warehouse with a wash bay, truck and equipment storage and a 1,600 sq. ft. mezzanine. The new 9,600 sq. ft. office area will provide office space, conference rooms, ADA-compliant restrooms and a "Community Room" which will be available for rent to the general public. A dedicated space for the linemen and their equipment, something that does not exist in the current building, is also a very important part of the new space.

WS Construction of Sioux Falls is the General Contractor that was awarded the bid to construct and Ciavarella Design of Mitchell are the Architects who designed the building.

The building will sport energy-efficient geothermal heating and cooling, provisions for electric vehicle charging and possibly a distributed generation (solar or wind) project in the future. The site will also include a 205,000 sq. foot pole and material storage yard, along with available lots for residential expansion, should the need arise. There will also be direct highway access for customers, deliveries, trucks and equipment.

Completion is due October 1st of 2021 with construction starting immediately. The contractors will be mobilizing on Monday and plans to start turning dirt by Wednesday.
