After the official ground-breaking in October, 2020, the long-awaited new office and shop facility for the Charles Mix Electric Association is now open to the public. Employees made the move official on Wednesday, February 16th. The new building is located just west of the Dollar General store, with access from Highway 50.

The new facility includes 9,000 sq. feet of office space, conference rooms, and a community room, and is ADA-compliant. The 18,000 sq.-foot shop and warehouse area will house all trucks and much material and equipment. The shop area includes a wash bay and storage mezzanine. Poles, transformers, and wire are stored in the 25,000 sq.-foot yard adjacent to the warehouse.

Customers are now able to enter the spacious lobby to visit with staff and/or remit payments. For after-hours payments, there is a convenient drop-box located at the front entrance. Payments should no longer be dropped off at the previous location, as this building has been vacated.

Plans are underway for a formal “grand opening” and open house at a later date. Charles Mix Electric is the rural electric cooperative serving the rural areas of Charles Mix County.
