CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT – COMMUNITY BANK OF AVON

By
Alyssa Mathis
This month’s Avon Chamber of Commerce Business Spotlight is on the Community Bank of Avon. The Community Bank of Avon first began operating in 1914 under the name of Bank of Kingsburg. The bank was chartered by Thomas C. Pier in Kingsburg. Pier got his start in banking working in banking in Ravinia. The Community Bank then moved to Avon in 1933 as the town of Kingsburg began to wither. Another reason for the bank’s change in location is that at the time, Avon did not have another operating bank and Pier wanted to better be able to serve the banking needs of the public. The Community Bank of Avon has a past history of and is currently a family ran business. The bank is a stock corporation that is owned by the extended Pier family as its shareholders. Pier family members also serve as Officers and Directors for the bank. The Community Bank of Avon has been a Chamber of Commerce member for over 50 years. The bank originally joined the chamber in order to help advocate business and commerce in the town of Avon. The Community Bank of Avon is happy to be a part of the Avon community. They believe that Avon is a great, small-town community. When asked how the Community Bank of Avon betters the Avon community, bank President Rick Pier, said that the bank serves as a resource for loans and other financial services. The bank also supports the Avon Community through various promotions and is an avid supporter of the Avon Pirate co-curricular activities. The Community Bank of Avon actively participates in community events. The bank has eight employees. Their employees work at a variety of volunteer services in and around Avon. As the bank president, Pier enjoys being a local, community-oriented bank. One aspect of the Community Bank of Avon that may not be well-known to the local community is that the bank is a resource for residential home loans. Some exciting news that has recently happened at the bank is that the new drive-up service opened in May of 2024. The bank is open Monday through Friday for all your banking needs 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Thank you, Community Bank of Avon, for being this month’s featured Avon Chamber of Commerce business.
